I broke down and bought a new hook, and I finished up Fritz's blanket! :) It's so soft! :) His sweater has the start of a sleeve, but I haven't gotten too much farther on it. I did make booties for him! I started a hat to match these booties. I'm calling these booties and hat "Diaper Bag Booties" and "Diaper Bag Hat" because that's just where they are going. I got to thinking that I should keep a hat and booties in the bag, because there are lots of variable for a warm weather baby. You have them dressed for heat, and then you go in somewhere that's chilly, like the grocery store. :) Yay knitting excuse. Last Saturday I went to an all-day birthing class at Sacred Heart. It was sort of interesting. I did some internal head shaking about a few things, but I also liked some of the things I heard. They're pretty adamant about the breastfeeding, which makes me happy. They said they want skin to skin for at least an hour after B...

Not too much going on right now. Knitting and crocheting, of course. Working on some Bundles of Love things like these: Plus a washcloth and a pair of mitts I haven't gotten on Ravelry yet, and a few other things that aren't done. I took Tiri to a family fun event in Eau Claire on Saturday. She got a balloon, petted some animals, we watched a dog agility show, and had a pretty good time. Then we went to Walmart and I think after that we came home. Since then we haven't been out to do much noteworthy. I'm thinking of taking her to my aunt's house today but she's still snoozing. Let sleeping Tiris lay, I say! I have two appointments this week for Fritz. On Thursday at 3pm, I meet a Dr. LaRusso, at the request of my midwife. It seems she wants a real OB to say that I can or cannot VBAC. Ooooo-kay then. If he tries to touch my lady bits I'm giving him a bloody nose. Did the WIC drop off on Tuesday and the ladies were very happy. :) Now to focus attention to a Bundles of Love donation. I've been meaning to donate to them again but have not done so. Here is what I have finished so far: I have another hat on the needles, and am thinking of casting on an  Easy Cuff-to-Cuff Infant Sweater . I've made this pattern before and it comes out very cute. Simple to make too. We have been having dangerously cold temperatures and that is sort of inspiring when it comes to knitting, especially when it comes to tiny humans not having adequate protection. :( The Winona Day Meeting is supposed to be on January 16th this month (it is the third Friday of the month). The title of this post has been a hot topic for the past 20 weeks, and finally, last Friday the question was answered. First, though, what do you think? :) Here it is (look at the ties): Yep! Another little boy. And now we need to think of a boy name. Oh dear. As he is due in May, the knitting is a bit more of a challenge. It might be spring, or maybe not quite, but he will for the most part be a warm weather baby. I've never had one of those, and it makes the knitting require more thought, to say the last. I'm doing some booties (this is a boughten pattern from Ravelry that is loads of fun, and I have another pair done but for ties) and I have made him a hat too. I'm rationalizing that even if it's warm, he can still wear a hat, right? ;-) I bought a skein of brown variegated today that will be booties and who knows what else, and I was also eyeing up a skein of baby sock yarn that I have had for several years, bought and saved for a baby project to kee...

On Friday, August 15, I took a donation to the Winona, MN chapter of  Bundles of Love . I had heard of this charity several years ago, and last summer found out that there was a group meeting monthly in Winona. However, life, and pregnancy, and that whole thing, sort of got in the way Finally, finally, though, I got to go! I took these things: 25 baby hats in a good mixture of colors for either gender, 4 pairs of socks that match 4 of the hats, 2 pairs of crocheted baby booties, and 1 knitted washcloth. I took Michelle and Bexley, and Carolyn (Michelle's little sister) with me to Winona that day, as a little outing. Tiri wanted to go in with me when I dropped off my things, which I wasn't sure about at first. They adored her, though, of course. All in all, it was a wonderful experience! I will definitely go back there, and I may even attend one of the meetings to do some needlework. I mentioned that I wasn't sure about that, because of Tiri, and they all assure...

Correction as of June 2, 2018. Eyelet tow rewritten.  Last night I had to take Jerek to the emergency room with his back pain. Of course I am not going to take him to the hospital without having yarn and needles along! I was going to make another hat (I finished two yesterday while we were out and about with my uncle Allen) but I think I am hatted out for the moment. Instead, I made booties. Nice, easy garter stitch booties loosely based on some that Tiri was given. I though everyone might like the pattern. I am calling them Pine Ridge Booties because I am linking the pattern to the  Bundles of Joy group on Ravelry.com. They make baby things for the OB ward of the hospital on Pine Ridge Reservation. They expect about 30 births a month and the poverty on the Rez is staggering. Hello All! I have a pattern to share with everyone today. I just knitted these up yesterday, and I thought they might be something others would be interested in. I've been busy making baby things to donate to Luther Midelfort in Eau Claire, WI. I just made these up on the fly yesterday. Hope you like them, and if you find a mistake leave a comment! :) You will need: Bernat Baby Jacquard or comparable baby yarn Size 7 needles Tapestry needle Scissors Two stitch markers Size F or G crochet hook ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gauge: 11 stitches to 2 inches in garter stitch.
