I made some sweet little crochet mitts tonight, and I said well, I might as well blog about them! :) Actually, this is how I made them. They are size newborn+, with a bit f wriggle room. :) Materials: Baby weight yarn. I used Bernat Baby Sport Ombre. You don't need much. Size F crochet hook. Scissors and tapestry needle. Notes: Chain 1 and chain 2 counts as first stitch in each round. Abbreviations used: HDC: half double crochet DC: double crochet CH: chain Sl ST: slip stitch ST: stitch REV SC: reverse single crochet, or crab stitch Directions: Chain 2. Join with sl st to form ring. Round 1: Ch. 1, work 11 hdc in ring. Join. (12 st.) Round 2: Ch. 1, hdc in same st as join. 2 hdc in each st around. Join. (24 st.) Round 3: Ch. 1, do not work in same st as join. Hdc in each st around. Join. (24 st.) Round 4-11: Ch. 1, work 1 hdc in each st around. Join. (24 sts.) Round 12: Ch. 2, dc in each st around. (24 st.) Tiri and I went to the Bundles of Love meeting in Winona yesterday. :) It was fun! There were several lovely ladies working there and it was such fun to just sit and knit with them. Tiri enjoyed herself too.  I took 13 items altogether: And while I was there, I made a simple little red knitted hat.  Annette, the leader, asked me to make some mitts and booties, or perhaps sweaters, since the get a lot of hats. I might be the Queen of Baby Hats, but I can adapt. :) I've made a pair of mitts so far! I love this yarn!!!! It's Cascade 220 Superwash Sport. It's deliciously soft and squishy.  I'm pattern searching booties right now. 

This is a pattern for my Faux-isle Baby Mitts. I made up the pattern while making baby gifts for Michelle and I really like it so I decided to write it up. Here are the mitts: I am calling them Faux-isle because I used Bernat Baby Jacquard yarn to make them, which makes its own fair-isle pattern. :) Of course you can make them striped or solid or whatever you like. These are fairly forgiving in size. I don't have a small baby to try them on, but I think they should be newborn to about 6 month size, if not a little bigger. There's a lot of stretch in the cuff, and the body of the mitten is roomy since I think little hands should be able to stretch and flex and move. Gauge: 5 1/2 stitches to the inch in stockinette in the round.
